DJBWatches.com is your online leader for Genuine new and pre-owned Rolex watches, Rolex Datejusts, Rolex Submariners and certification. All movements that fail this initial test are completely rebuilt and tested again. Should the movement be successfully certified by the COSC, it is sent back to a Rolex production site. If needed, the date and day feature is installed, as well as the dial, hour hand, minute hand, and second hand. Creation of the Rolex Oyster Case is the next step in the creation of a Rolex Watch. These cases are created from solid ingots of materials such as yellow gold, platinum, stainless steel, and more. The case and crystal are tested independently from the movement at this point for its waterproofing ability. If the Rolex Oyster Case successfully completes the waterproofing tests, it is then time for it to be mated to its movement. The certified movement is placed inside the Oyster Case and it is sealed with the installation of the Crystal and the bezel. The Cyclops lens will be installed on date models at this point. Afterward, the rotor for the perpetual movement mechanism is installed and tested. At this point, the back of the watch is installed and the assembly is completed. Stress Testing All completed Rolex Watches are then put through a battery of rigorous stress testing. The watch is first subjugated to another round of waterproofing test in the same manner that the Oyster case was tested. Another round of accuracy testing is served; the completed Rolex watch is again pitted against the atomic clock to ensure its accuracy. Now, several random specimens are chosen out of every batch to be put in a tropical testing chamber. In a mere four weeks, this chamber simulates five years of wear in extremely taxing conditions by exposing the watch to corrosive vapor. The long and demanding process that every Rolex Watch must survive before reaching the end user is what ensures the perfection that Rolex is known for.
